The Jean Guide

Finding good … hang on.. not good.. GREAT fitting jeans can be hard. My shape is larger thighs and a smaller waist so most the time “mom” or “boyfriend” jeans end up just looking skinny or not being tight in the wrong places but baggy in the wrong places… however I have managed to find a core set of jeans which are perfect for my shape.

For reference for the jeans and fit etc. I am a 26W and about 5.5/5.6 ft

  1. Stretch light denim jeans

These are really stretchy which make them so comfortable - These are my “meal out” go to jeans if you know what I mean ;) I also think the dappled denim look makes them super flattering as it seems to contour in the right places.

2. HM raw hem jeans.

I have had these jeans for so long. I love them. They are probably my most worn jeans I have had them for about 4 years. I like the frayed hem as it makes them perfect with books in the winter but also cute in the summer. They are super comfortable.. When I first got them they were a little baggier but y’know lockdown…

I don’t they they are still available but have linked similar.

3. The Stradivarius slim mom jean.

These are my latest jean edition, I saw my friend ( in the summer when it was allowed) and she had them on and I was like omg your jeans are amazing! so of course had to get myself some. They are the perfect mix between the two jeans above. light denim, without the raw hem and with stretch… the best bit is that they look like a solid denim a bit like classic vintage denim. I have these jeans in both size 8 and 10. I wear the 8 when I want to look slightly smarter or the 10 around the house and that time of the month as they are a little more comfortable and slouchy.

( the left photo I am wearing the size 10, the right photo I am wearing a size 8 for reference)

5. The Arket regular crop jean.

A slightly lower waistline, straight legged. These jeans I tend to wear more in the summer .. not sure why I think its because when I wear boots I prefer a higher waist to elongate my leg line. These jeans look great with sandals and slides.

( Confession - These don’t actually fit me right now! ha. I’m blaming lockdown!)

6. The Levis Ribcage.

They give a retro look as they are totally straight down, I got them about two years ago and sized down as I was told they give a little. They have always fitted me so well..They are a little tighter since lockdown but still lots of give. I also got the same pair in black but had to size up in them as the denim seemed to have less give.

7. The Levis mom jeans.

On the model these looked a little baggy however on me they are not but I still love the way they look and think they make my legs look longer then they are even when wearing flat shoes. I do struggle to wear these with boots because of the length on me however with low boots, sandals, trainers, etc.

8. & other stories light blue/white blue jeans.

These are a fab jean for white jeans. I often find skinny white jeans don’t suit me at all and are so unflattering but I love these wide legged jeans. They are brilliant for a slightly cooler look and creating different style outfits.

9. The wide legged flare.

These are from Zara, they are super long and can only be worn for me with a heel or wedge but I just love that they instantly give a 70s or hippy vibe to some of the tops I was struggling to style. I had a few tops in my wardrobe which I wasn’t wearing as much as I thought I would but since added these to my wardrobe they seem to make everything look good.

The BA&SH wide legged jean

And last but not least the BA&SH jeans which transformed my wardrobe. The pockets, length and wide legs are so flattering and whenever I wear them they make me feel like a 70’s queen.
