Can YOU get away with statement clothing?

Can YOU get away with statement clothing? I always admired the likes of Iris Apfel, Susie Bubble, Mel Kobayashi, Freddie Harrel, Margaret Zhang, Leandra (Medine) Cohen, and Pernille Teisbaek etc for their bold style, ability to wear whatever they want and to look pretty damn confident doing it, as for me, I opt for a simple look most the time, one I feel comfortable with but not necessary confident. I don’t feel sassy in it, or particularly gorgeous.  I recently shot with Megan who wore some AMAZING rainbow trousers and whilst I was like they are bloody cool, her legs looked twice as long and she looked pretty damn fine, I was left wondering weather I ever could or ever would wear something so bold and statement looking.

The next day I was listening to a podcast which was saying if you go traveling you can become anyone you want, because no one knows you… the thought of being able to reinvent yourself sounds wonderful. You could be the you, you want to be. But then I thought …  but I don’t want to go traveling right now?! And I don’t particularly feel the need to completely reinvent myself.

I had seen this knitwear on the H M website and instantly fell in love with it. It isn’t something which I would class as a safe option, but it is definitely comfortable! It might be something i would usually think twice about, wondering if i could pull it off but this time i decided just to go with it. And you know what, it has probably been my most worn purchase in the last few months. Being able to dress it up, dress it down, wear the items separately.

Everything about it had suited my life style perfectly. And whist when I put it on this morning my boyfriend said “ahh my little red tortoise is back” I walked out the door in to the streets of manchester with an air of confidence.

Is there anything that you wish you had brought or wish you had the confidence to pull it off? My advice is … just give it a go!
